GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Full Cheddar are seeking talented, ambitious individuals with a passion for all things film related to take on the role of
film Journalist! This position calls for someone who loves a variety of movie genres, enjoys working with an exceptional
team, and has a passion for writing & interviewing!
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Watching films of all genres, often several times
· Making notes about scripts, music, storylines and influences
· Looking at technical details like camera angles, lighting and editing
· Write movie reviews for the magazine
· Film movie reviews for the podcast
· Write articles about movies and all aspects of the movie industry
· Work with production to set up interviews with actors, directors, production staff and other key members
of the movie industry
· Conduct interviews
· Write up interviews as articles for the magazine
· Film interviews for the podcast
· Submitting reviews, interviews & articles by strict deadlines
· Submit ideas for relevant articles for the magazine to the editor
· Write up articles that the editor has approved for the magazine
· Film articles that the editor has approved to be included in the podcast
· Building up contacts with film-makers, agents and distributors
· Attending film festivals, talks, previews and press conferences
· Researching archival information about films and film-makers
· Keeping up to date with critical theories
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Computer skills: MS Office, Windows / Mac
· Tertiary qualification in a related field (certificate / diploma / degree) would be beneficial but not a
requirement
· The ability to work well within a team as well as independently
· Good command of the English language
· Proficient written communication skills · Sound verbal communication skills · A passion for creative writing and objective journalism · A keen interest in film · The ability to critically analyse information · An eye for detail · Ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure · Ambition and a desire to succeed ·
EDUCATION, TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PROVIDED
Training and coaching / mentoring will be provided on the following topics:
· All submitted articles & podcasts will receive full editorial review and feedback providing opportunities for
improvement in writing and filming techniques in line with journalistic expectations for the industry.
· Project management & organizational skills
· Leveraging of relationships within industry network in order to obtain interviews with key individuals
· Marketing yourself to prospective employers: CV writing, job application process & interviewing
· Core business skills: Time management and productivity, stress management, teamwork.
· Implementation of a personal development plan within the workplace.
· On the job coaching & mentorship
· Business administration

ENVIRONMENT Professional team with a passion for what we do. All equipment and software to facilitate remote working will be provided by the employer. Employees are currently required to work from home in line with Government advice.
